If you build it, they will come.

Or in my case “it”. The whole purpose of this website was to not only get some of my work online, but also inspire me to do more personal work, and that’s precisely what started yesterday. I’ve decided I want to build up a bunch of small 3 – 5 second animations involving a character doing something. I have a few ideas running through my mind: looking under a box, tip-toeing down a hallway, etc.

The first one I’m going to go with involves a bit of a strut (for the first half) so that’s what I started working on yesterday. My loving wife has never seen me animate so she seemed rather intrigued by the whole thing and commented on how it looked complicated. I only managed to find time to put 60 minutes or so into it, but it was good to be getting back into it at home.

I need to find some new free rigs though (have I mentioned I’m crap at modelling/texturing?), so for this one (and possibly others) I’ll be using the Andy rig as seen in one of my earlier animations. Not sure if/when I’ll post work in progress animations/images.

Awesome.. why dont you revamp “Colin”.. stick to what you do well as he was a fantastic charater! Can your comp now cope with such rendering and such?
*puffs up chest as knows what a good render can achive* :P

Oh that reminded me. I should really put up the one second of animation that I still like from that animation. Time and experience really destroys any happiness with old animations :p
